I’ll be co-presenting on the “Elemental Joys of Kinship” with John Hausdoerffer at this event. Looking forward to this celebration of photography as a way to explore our kinships with the more-than-human world. The festival organizers used the Kinship book series (co-edited by me, John, and Robin Wall Kimmerer) as the inspiration for the event and the call for photographs. I love when the written word can mingle with the visual arts, especially for a topic like this.
Here’s more about the event: The ninth edition of the PhotoVogue Festival, the world's first festival dedicated to conscious fashion photography, opens to the public today until March 9 in the spaces of BASE Milano. The free event features four days full of exhibitions, talks, thematic panels and digital showcases, transforming BASE Milano into an inclusive platform for dialogue and reflection.
This year's theme, “The Tree of Life: A Love Letter to Nature,” celebrates the resilience, interconnectedness and beauty of the natural world while addressing pressing global challenges related to the environment and sustainability. Guided by the concept of kinship - the interconnectedness of all living things - the ninth edition of the Festival reimagines human relationships with animals, plants and the planet. Through diverse voices and compelling narratives, it underscores the urgency of addressing climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental exploitation. More than a celebration of photography, it is a rallying cry for collective responsibility and positive change.
